I tried the Chicago-style roast beef sandwich on a hoagie roll with roast beef and pickled giardiniera. The bread was really yummy. The menu said the bread was made from ancient grains and I liked the sesame seeds on top. The giardiniera had pickled veggies like peppers and cauliflower and it was spiced perfectly. It was a pretty big sandwich with a lot of roast beef in it. The roast beef was served warm and tasted fresh. We also sampled 3 pastries for dessert. We split a piece of lemon bread, almond cake and a cranberry oatmeal cookie. We enjoyed all the desserts but the cranberry oatmeal cookie was my favorite because it had cranberries and walnuts and pumpkin seeds.
This place just opened and it is near MSU campus. The inside is nice and new and I liked seeing the employees knead the dough. The bakery is open to the restaurant and so you can see the bread being made. They also sell beer and coffee which seems like an interesting combination.
I would give this place 5 stars out of 5.
